This is one of my favorite kitchen helpers. I cannot stand it when I go to bake and my brown sugar is hard like a rock. My beautiful Grams gave me one of these over 25 years ago as an engagement gift, I am still using it to this day.
It is so easy, just soak your ceramic brown sugar softener in distilled water for 15 minutes, pat dry, and place on top of your brown sugar.
In the past our mothers and grandmothers would place a piece of bread or apple to try to stop their brown sugar from hardening, but it was ideal as it increased the risk of mold or a causing the sugar to have a funky flavor.
This Brown Sugar Saver keep your brown sugar softened for for up to 6 months when stored in a closed container. When sugar begins to harden, re-soak, pat dry, and use again.
Can be used in brown sugar, granulated sugar, sugar in the raw, turbinado sugar, and sugar substitutes, baked goods, cakes, cookies, marshmallows, even dried fruit. You can also use it dry without soaking to absorb moisture and keep spices, salt, crackers, pretzels and chips dry and crispy.
